So....um....the rules and info was just posted and I'm completely lost...here are the rules I was confused about and my questions...any help/clarification? This isn't like any artist alley I've done (Anthrocon, Furfright, handful of anime cons)

here's the original page: https://www.indyfurcon.com/?q=node/379

Legal and Hotel Issues:
-The Artists Alley will be staffed during the hours covered in the official schedule. All sales at the convention not through a licensed and registered Dealer must be in the alley, and therefore may not occur outside of the Alley or when the Alley is not staffed.
***Okay, this makes sense...you only sell in the artist's alley or dealer's room. But don't the alley people have to be licensed as well *reads below*

-We will have children at the convention. Please recognize this fact and keep any adult material in closed appropriately labeled folders.
***Pretty standard, keep the porn away from the lil' ones. (note: do badges specify if an attendee is underage?)

-Beyond that, please do not break any local, state, or federal laws. You, the artist, are responsible for your own sales tax for art sold in the Alley.
***Okay, here's the first part I'm confused about. I got a tax license...I'll be fine. However if someone sells at this convention without one, they trie to do the right thing and file taxes after the fact aren't they opening themselves up to get SLAMMED with penalties...I know that's how it is in other states...something isn't clear here....how exactly does this work?

Structure:
-Artist Alley half-tables will be assigned before the opening of the Alley each day. Signup will begin for the following day at 3 PM on the previous day and end 30 minutes before the alley opens. Those who sign up by 7PM the previous day will have a lottery results posted by 8 AM the following morning (most likely before 9 PM)
***So, there are two sign-ups? One from 3PM-7PM the night before which get's priority than one from 7PM the night before to....30 minutes before the room opens....where does the 9pm factor? Does this apply to the first day of the convention as well (do you have to arrive on thursday before 7pm to get the first priority sign-up)

-Artists may not sell premade non-original pieces. Prints, books, CDs, DVDs, and t-shirts and similar are not permitted for sale in the Alley. If you DO wish to sell these, the convention store will act as a proxy for these materials at 10% percent of the sale price for basic registrants. We will supply inventory sheets for these sales, however you must provide your own storage container (folder) with proper price documentation. Payout from the Con Store will occur at the end of each day.
***So, no artist alley if you're a digital artist or artist who works in anything that can't be transported? That doesn't sound right....I know most artists make prints or products they've prepared before the cons (including original work they plan to bring to the con for sale, especially oversized orginals and paintings). Also, I HAND SCULPT keychains (so, they're originals not copies or mass produced). I prepare many of these for sale at cons, where do these fall? Where am I while they're at the store (if that's the only place they're allowed). What am I doing? Who's there to answer questions and talk about the craft and record purchases? If an artist has prints in the store who's there to discuss print runs or media?

-A "premade non-original" piece is anything which is made, in its entirety, off site and by someone other than the artist. If you have the means to create the product in its entirety for its sale cost at the convention, you may sell it.
***.....what about a piece that is made, in its entirety, off site and by the artist? Many artists print from home, I sculpt my stuff myself...at home where I have access to the tool and equipment. People who work in certain traditional medias make art...at home where their lighting is spot on or where they're pieces can sit and dry somewhere.

Etiquette:
-You may not hang posters from the ceiling or walls, however anything on your table or behind it is permitted as long as it doesn't interfere with artists around you. We do not want to ban any form of expression, please allow us to respect your freedom of expression.
***....so we ARE allowed art on the table? as long as it's...not for sale?

Enforcement of Rules:
-By signing up for a spot in the Alley,
you agree to all of the rules written herein and agree to abide by Indianapolis, Indiana, and United States laws pertaining to selling at IndyFurCon.
***What are these laws, where does the average person find them? I called the hotline on the Indiana tax sit....they gave me nothing and told me to talk to the coordinator of the event....

Thanks in advance :D
